Here is an utterly and absolutely free Adobe FrameMaker 2019 template i A5 size for Technical Documents. The template is usable for technical documents, but lends itself easily to all other sorts of documents too. Please do not be fooled by the somewhat goofy text! The template has good depth and is very usable!
"Tahona - A Tequila driven, FrameMaker 2019 Template" is a 20th anniversary tribute to the original FrameMaker templates. It is built upon one of those, but with a modern twist.
This template is:
- in A4, which is a common european page size
- Colourful. It is based on a blue colour theme. Blue like the Blue Agave, which is used for making tequila :-)
- Bult using only Win10 default fonts. The fonts used are Corbel, Palatino Linotype and Courier New - all fonts which are shipped with Win10
- We have made a HTML5 settings file which makes it easy to publish to HTML5. The settings file make a nice conversion for better screen reading.
The templates HTML5 version may be seen here!
"Baked Agave" is an A5 size, free FrameMaker template with focus on small to medium size software documenation projects
I have built in a number of Object Styles as shortcuts to a number of operations The project files reside in MIF to facilitate opening in older versions of FrameMaker.
I have made a small video instruction to the template on my Youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYrMTQQC6zg
"Horno" is a free Adobe FrameMaker Paperback template.
It is pretty simple stuff. It adheres to common paperback dimensions.
It comes with a settings file for creating pdf's and another settings file for creating epubs.
I have made a master page mapping on the reference pages which will allow the user to map master pages to paragraph tags.
I have made made a small video instruction to the template on my Youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCkn4vMsK9o
The "Bagazzo History Book Template" is a free FrameMaker 2019 template. It comes with psd/png and FrameMaker FM and FrameMaker MIF files.
The layout size is 176 X 250 mm, which is the B5 size. B5 is a pretty common book size for reference works, artbooks etc.
The design is pretty simple and meant for books like a cultural history, an art history or a biography.
I have tried to keep the number of styles low and have made Object Styles for the anchored frames. I have also made and styled a Table of Contents and and Index.
The template is based on the font "Lucida Bright" and "Yu Gothic Light"
The "Blanco Manual" is the worlds first free Adobe FrameMaker 2020 template! It is an A5 template meant for software documentation, but it will adhere itself to most sorts of documentation/instructions, actually. It has been made for multi-volume publishing, with a a header which enable to volumes with different colour coding.
We have supplied the template with MIF files, making it possible for you to open the template in earlier versions of FrameMaker too.
This FrameMaker 2020 template is called "Anejo".
“Anejo” means “Old” or “Aged”. It is a term coming from the tequila industry, where one of the 5 official tequila ageing categories is “Anejo”. An anejo tequila has been aged from 1-3 years.
We have chosen the brown color scheme used in this template from the colors of an aged tequila.
It it an A4 sized template based on a two column setup and it comes with a STS-settingsfile for publishing to PDF and HTML5. From a design point of view, I have put emphasis on making the heading levels easy to see, and the typography easy to read.
I have used Corbel for the typography. Microsoft has a - very neat - page detailing what fonts that come with Windows 10, and I have chosen Corbel for exactly that reason - it comes with Windows 10, so most users will have it already. It is a modern typeface with some neat "old fashioned" looks as well, especially in the numbers and it support a fair number of languages.
The Anejo template has tre paragraph levels beside the title level and three table styles and a couple of object styles. This is not a super fancy template, but it will work fine for most industrial products and most software user guides as well. I have put some care into making it work with HTML5.
STS file for PDF and HTML5
We bundle the template with an STS file, which will allow you to publish to PDF and HTML5. The HTML5 design resembles the PDF design in look and feel.
This is a link to the HTML5 version of the "Anejo template": https://framemaker.dk/images/2019/FMtemplates/Anejo/index.html#t=Anejo%2FAnejo_Front_Page%2FAnejo_Front_Page.htm
The "Cristalino A6" template is meant for the many small manuals, which are sent along with the enormous amount of small electrical devices like toothbrushes, drills and shavers. These manuals have been designed with two goals in mind: to be small and cheap. That is why they are printed in A6 (105 mm x 148 mm) on thin paper and in black and white.
The design has been optimised to save space, which is why we have incorporated the dynamic Table of Contents in the front page. The book file has been set up to handle multiple languages and we have put along an english and a german chapter. We have designed a couple of table styles and made some object styles for image frames.
The type is based on Candara, which is a font that ships with Windows 10 + the font "Tables" which is a free pictogram font. The font "Tables" can be downloaded here.
We have incorporated an STS file which allows to publish as Print Ready PDF with cropmarks.
About the name: Cristalino is a fairly new variety of tequila. It is made by filtering all color pigments out of an aged tequila like an "Anejo". The result is a clear, transparant tequila, which has (somewhat) the taste of an aged tequila.
"Azul - All Sizes" is not a traditional FrameMaker template. Rather it is a collection of the standard FrameMaker template, but in a large number of page sizes and orientations.
Thing is... FrameMaker has a few standard page sizes built into the "New Document" dialogue, but these page sizes can not be changed and it is not possible to add other page sizes. Also FrameMaker does not have the Portrait/Landscape function which will allow a user to change page orientation on the fly. You want to change from the initial Portrait option to Landscape...? You will have to customize the page size to the values defining the landscape option.
Rather than staying frustrated with these oddities, we went for a low-end practical solution!
